Workshop Evaluation

This event was the first international youth exchange organized by our team. It was not flawless we know, but we feel that together with the unbelievebly creative and motivated participants we succeeded in fulfilling our initial plans. Of course we would like to do more :-). And we would like to get better and better so it's very important for us to get to know the participants' opinion on the workshop. Here you can read the participant groups' evaluation.

The finish...

We have made it!!! It feels so good!

Wednesday could not go about other than work, since in the evening 5 groups were to present the results of the workshop. From morning till the evening a little bit stressed out but still joyful groups were editing, drawing, preparing, searching for music.....to finalize their presentations.

Car Free Day - Critical Mass - a huge gift

It is not surprising that a workshop dealing with issues of a "livable city" pays particular attention to the Car Free Day. After a whole day spent with filming, editing, preparing, drawing and making photos, the whole team sprang into saddle to join the Critical Mass demonstration. It is very hard to describe what it means for us, workshop organizers, to be part of the movement that is apparently happening in our hometown...

Monday with work and workshops

Work restarted on Monday as final presentation on Wednesday is still ahead of the participants. Compared to our original idea we raised the expectation higher, as groups now have to work together, cooperate with each other and reflect to each others' ideas.

Steam release

Following two days of intense work and a very successful first presentation, the weekend was dedicated to a colorful selection of cultural and entertaining programs. On Saturday, participants had a chance to join the official Mobility Week's program on the Andrássy street which was closed for car traffic for the whole weekend. From there we rode our bikes down to Kopaszi-gát - a former post industrial area converted into a public park.

... and let them play pacman

Friday has arrived to bring the first presentation session for the extremely active and jovial group of workshop participants. The four groups introduced their "subjective problem maps" to each other. The outcome turned out to be so amazingly creative and impressive that even the organizing team was surprised.

Ready. . .Steady. . .Go!

Thursday was spent with very intense work. The first task was to gather the problems seen and experienced during the presentations and cycling of the previous day. Before lunch participants went on a walk to explore the area on foot as well.

Teampower - the first 2 days

Tuesday morning marked the beginning of the first international youth exchange project of the Hungarian Cyclists' Club with 33 enthusiastic young future expert candidates. The 10 days long program is an exceptionally important step: the organizing team (Szabó Veron, Zsargó Szilvi, Portschy Szabolcs, Kobrizsa Ádám) is conducting a real international workshop following the 3 months preparation period. The first evening in the exquisite atmosphere of the Architect's Cellar was spent with introductions and getting known to each other.

The following text was put together by the Spanish workshop participants [ETSAV - Barcelona]. The original and longer version can be found here.
Thank you, guys!

Mobility Week Budapest, a colourful program package

September is truly the month of promoting sustainable traffic, especially cycling. In the workshop program bicycle gets special attention as well. We are overwhelmed by the number of programs we had to synchronize to make them work in synergie. The programs recited in the Google calendar are not only the Youth exchange program elements but also other events going on in Budapest during the mobility week.

What's going on all around the world?

We are really interested in other international successful methods of the "Realization process of a liveable city". Therefore, we would like to collect good examples in the fields of urban planning, workshop organizing, promoting development plans and cycling, youth team work.

First of all our favourite example: Bogotá. We suggest You to visit PBS e2 series and e2 teachers.

Step by step to the realization of a liveable city

The aim of this draft is to outline the structure of the professional presentations held on the 16th of September. During the 10 days of the workshop we will follow these steps in small scale and realize some elements of this process list.

Brainstorming and organizer meetings

As members of the organizer group of the Green Bikes for Peace Project, our new winner international application is a real present. It's clear that we have to practice a lot to be able to organize successful and effective workshops. We continue one of the most important practical elements of the work done in the last 6 months: we hold regular meetings at least weekly, to work out the detailed program and work methods of the workshop.

Drupal domain access

We are proud that we can build on the results and achievements of our earlier projects. The nicest example for this is the improvements made to the Drupal motor behind our greenbikesforpeace.eu page. Our Drupal developer, Ádám Boros implemented the changes needed to create the new mobilityweekbudapest.eu page with a new theme and domain name built on the same engine.
This achievement has a great significance. On the long term this means that the international projects and everyday work of the Hungarian Cyclists' Club can be communicated very easily in English from now on.

Following the Green Bikes way - successful partnership

One of the first international projects of Hungarian Cyclists' Club was this years' Green Bikes for Peace project. During this 30-day long project we could establish a lot of new partnerships and fill old ones with content. This was a very good base when it came to find partners and participants, and to build up the program of the Mobility Week Workshop project.
We are confident that slowly we can build an active networking system through finding the right international partners.

The birth of an idea

Urban space belongs to the inhabitants of a city. This sentence influences the development strategies of more and more cities of various sizes. In recent years the need to change our cities and make them more livable is getting stronger and more and more urgent in Hungary as well. The self-organized subcultural group of cyclists has a great role in arising this need. The Hungarian Cyclists' Club is taking an active part in this process, of course focusing on the development of cycling infrastructure and popularizing cycling.
