city - community - planning - knowledge transfer
The Mobility Week Budapest 2009 project is a winner EU youth exchange project, organized by the Hungarian Cyclists' Club. Our project is financed by the Youth in Action programme of the EU.
Summary of the program
The objective of the project is to go over the common and alternative forms of city-scale public and individual means of transport and urban land use along with their ability to remodel the cityscape in negative as well as positive ways. We would like to show directly and clearly, that the direction of these future changes strongly depend on our present attitudes.
The 33 young participants come from 9 different countries, mainly students in the fields of architecture, film-making, urban planning, transport planning and geography. They will share their own experiences and broaden their knowledge during the creative activities of the 10-day long workshop.
We assigned a pilot area for the workshop. Participants will get to know this part of the city and its problems very well.
The line and surroundings of Kossuth Lajos - Rákóczi street from the Danube to Blaha Lujza square is a very problematic part of Budapest's city center in many ways. A throughout field study can be made here exploring every aspects and problems of personal mobility in Budapest.
